Victoria University of Wellington, one of New Zealand’s oldest universities was founded in 1897. In 2015, it achieved five stars from QS Stars University Rating in each of the eight categories: arts and culture, discipline ranking and accreditations, employability, facilities, inclusion, internationalization, research, and teaching. The PhD scholarship is for three years.

Victoria University of Wellington offers scholarships for students who are planning to pursue PhD studies. These scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement. They are open to international and New Zealand students in any subject.

There are only a few scholarships available each round. You may be granted admission to one. It is important to explore other funding options.

Most scholarships are granted for three years. At the discretion of Victoria University Research Scholarships Committee, the maximum term of a Scholarship may be reduced for students who have been enrolled at Victoria University of Wellington for more than three months at the time of being offered a Scholarship.

Eligible Criteria to Apply for New Zealand Scholarship Grants

These Fully Funded Scholarships are available to New Zealand graduates of any university, either in New Zealand or overseas, who wish to register full-time for a Doctorate at Victoria University of Wellington (PhD), or have started their doctorate there.

The Scholarship Merits

The scholarship award covers the tuition fees for all eligible students; $23,500 per year.
